Rochester, MN — The Mankato MoonDogs travled to Mayo Field on Wednesday evening to wrap up a home and away twin bill against the Rochester Honkers. The MoonDogs were able to break out the brooms in game two, fighting the Honkers for nine innings to scratch out a 5-4 win.

After being held hitless for the first 3.2 innings, Bryce Adams (LSU) finally broke through against Rochester's starter, Robert Paccione (LIU Post), launching a game-tying home run, his third of the season. The bomb wrapped around the left-field foul pole and evened up the game at 1-1. 

Gavin Wehby (Nicholls State) allowed what would be the game winning run to cross in the top of the eighth inning, hitting into a double play that allowed Alvaro Rubalcaba (Cal State Northridge) to plate Mankato's fifth run of the night.

Rochester charged back in the bottom of the inning, plating three runs of their own with Casey Worden (UC Riverside), Brett Harrison (North Dakota), and Jacob Thomas (UC Davis) all bringing runs home in their at-bats. Brian Gatsby (UCLA) would work out of trouble, though, with Rochester's Kyle Kasser (Oregon) running himself into an out on the third baseline to end the inning. Gadsby returned to pitch a 1-2-3 ninth, earning himself the win. 

The MoonDogs find themselves just 1.5 games back of third place heading into Thursday. They'll head to Waterloo, IA to take on the third place Bucks for two games, both starting at 7:05 PM. Ricky Digrugilliers will be Thursday's starter.
