WATERLOO, Iowa. A couple of defensive errors and a diving catch by Tyler Bordner in left field cost the MoonDogs the second game of the two-game series as they fell to Waterloo on Thursday night 2-1 at Riverfront Stadium. The MoonDogs got a run in the top of the second inning on a bunt single by Ethan Valdez. Jake Shepski came around to score, but the lead was short lived. Waterloo struck back in the bottom of the third to tie the game at one. With two outs, the MoonDogs walked Korry Howell. Then a single by Drew Greenwood put runners on the corners. Jay Schuyler reached base next on an error by Ethan Valdez on a ground ball to second base.

The game remained tied at one for the next four innings until the bottom of the eighth. Jay Schuyler again reached on an error, this time by MoonDogs third baseman Jake Shepski. A walk to Malis and a base hit by Deion Thompson scored the go ahead run for the Bucks and Brandon Downey came in to pick up the save in the ninth, getting Valdez to ground into a 5-4-3 double play.

Matthew Perea got the win in relief for the Bucks, working the eighth inning and not allowing a run while walking two. Perea was helped by a diving, wall hitting catch in left field by Tyler Bordner. Had it not been for the catch, the MoonDogs would have scored a run to tie the game. Addison Reed took the loss, giving up the go ahead run. The MoonDogs (5-5) will be back home tomorrow night for the first game of a two game set against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. First pitch at Franklin Rogers Park is scheduled for 7:05pm.
