ROCHESTER, Minn. Hunter Dozier’s two-run homer in the first inning gave the Stingers a lead they never relinquished, and Dozier added another home run in the sixth inning along with Corben Green as part of a franchise-record 16 runs at Mayo Field Sunday afternoon.

Dozier (Stephen F. Austin) went 2-for-5 with two homers and three RBIs in the 16-9 victory against the Honkers, moving his season totals to five home runs and 28 RBIs. Green (Louisiana Monroe) hit his fifth homer of the season and his fourth in the past four days in the sixth inning to give him 23 RBIs in 17 games with the team. Green is now hitting .343 and has a 15-game hitting streak, which is the second longest in the Northwoods League this season.

Willmar scored multiple runs in six different innings during the game and failed to score only once – the fifth inning in which the Stingers left the bases loaded. Willmar notched 20 hits in the game, led by Max Kuhn’s (Kentucky) four hits, which included a double and an RBI. Four other Stingers had three hits in the game, including JD Dorgan (St. Thomas), who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs.

Forrestt Allday (Central Arkansas) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two walks. Allday’s two-out double in the second inning scored Zach Benson (Stephen F. Austin) and Dorgan to add to Dozier’s first-inning homer and give Willmar a 4-0 lead. Benson was 2-for-3 at the plate Sunday with three walks to reach base 5-of-6 chances and scored three runs in the contest.

Mitch Rowan (San Francisco) went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, while Michael Suchy (Florida Gulf Coast) earned his league-leading 38th RBI on a safety-squeeze bunt in the fourth inning. Suchy has 12 RBIs his last nine games.

The Stingers had seven two-out RBIs with two each from Allday, Green and Dorgan. Kuhn added a two-out RBI on a single in the ninth to score Green for Willmar’s 16th run, its most in a single game in franchise history.

Andre Wheeler (Texas Tech) received the victory after pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts to move to 3-1 on the year. Anthony Consiglio (Western Nevada College) allowed three runs on four hits and seven walks in four innings in his start.

Willmar will conclude its three-game series against Rochester Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
