Willmar, Minn.—The Stingers are blown out in the final game of the series against the Larks 14-4. Willmar moves back to a 5-5 record in the second half of the summer.

Bradley Kinsey (Pittsburg State) made the start for the Stingers. He pitched 4.1 innings allowing five earned runs. Kinsey walked five batters and struck out two. The Larks began scoring in the second inning of play. They drove in three runs off four hits. 3-0 Larks. Three hits scored runs for the Stingers in their half of the second. Andrew Lucas (Northridge) and Kevin Saenz (San Jose State) both had RBI’s in the inning. 3-2 Larks.

Joel Cheatwood (Montevallo) got the Stingers through the fifth inning. Four runs scored, but all were charged to the starting pitcher. Cheatwood allowed two hits in his 1.2 innings of work. The reliever, Cheatwood, did not allow any runs of his own. 7-2 Larks. Willmar was able to answer with a run in the bottom half of the fifth. Daniel Walsh (Sac City) was able to score Saenz on an infield ground ball. 7-3 Larks.

The Larks loaded the bases in the seventh with no outs. It was Luke DeGrammont (Concordia-St. Paul) that got the Stingers out of the bases loaded, no-out jam. The Larks scored two runs in the seventh. DeGrammont completed two innings of work for the Stingers. He allowed one earned run off three hits. 9-3 Larks.

Both teams scored a run in the eighth inning. Kevin Saenz got the job done for the Stingers when he scored Tyler Bosetti (Nevada) with a single. That would be the last run the Stingers score. 10-4 Larks. Bismarck ended the game with a flood of runs in the top of the ninth. They scored four runs off six hits. The Stingers were unable to create a rally in their half of the ninth. The final score was 14-4 Larks.

The Stingers will head to Rochester tomorrow for the first game of a two-game series. First pitch is 6:05pm CT!
