WILLMAR, Minn.—The final game of the four-game homestand saw yet another offensive onslaught by both teams, although this time the Stingers came up on the losing end in a 11-5 defeat in the second game of the two-game series with St. Cloud at Bill Taunton Stadium.

But in the loss, again several Willmar players had quality games led by outfielder Jack Ross who has been on an offensive binge lately. With the Stingers (27-13 overall, 5-5 second half) trailing in the early going, Ross found himself at the plate in the fifth with a runner on second base. After not having a home run in his first 16 games, Ross went deep to right field for his second dinger in as many games to put the Stingers on the board.

Then in the very next inning, Willmar kick-started a two-out rally against the Rox (26-20, 7-4), which has happened quite often this season. Dan Motl singled to start the attack and Hutton Moyer reached when his fly ball was dropped in right field by Morgan Phillips. With the error to keep the inning alive, Nick Rivera came to the plate and made the Rox pay with his second home run in two days, tallying his three RBI all on one swing. That brought the Stingers right back in the thick of things, but unfortunately that was all the offense they would get the rest of the way, as the 11-5 score held up as the final.

Jack Ross led all Stingers at the plate with his third straight multi-hit performance, going 2×4 with two RBI, a home run and a double. Colton Boucher pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Willmar while Matt Geislinger gave up just two runs in four strong innings of relief.
