Dickinson, ND- The Big Sticks got the win today over the Minnesota Mud Puppies in a 5-4 victory.
The Sticks put up runs early in the 1st on a Tyler Tobey RBI single and a Kaden Carpenter RBI ground out. The next two inning would remain scoreless on both sides and the action would not pick up again until the 4th. The Mud Puppies would start the inning with back to back doubles from Caden Headlee and Nick Ibrahim that would score one. The other run that inning would come from a Maddox Foss RBI groundout. The Sticks would not be dismayed, and score two of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Marcus Romero would knock in the first run in and Quade Peters would cross home on a pass ball.
At the top of the 5th inning, Lincoln Berry would slam a home run that would end Tyler Conklin’s night, it was not one of Conklin’s best starts, only going 4 and a third innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and 3 earned runs. The sticks would answer their homer with a run of their own on another passed ball behind the plate, each team would again go scoreless until the 9th inning when the puppies would make a push to tie up the game. They would come within one after Logan Myers would be hit by a pitch. It would be a scary situation, but Braden McCollough was able to navigate around it and secure the win.
The Big Sticks would finish the series again the Mud Puppies tomorrow at our regular 6:35 start time.
