Many Northwoods League teams are still waiting for their remaining signed players on their roster to come into town this summer. The reason for most of them is because those players are currently involved in the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Eight teams make it to the CWS and this year those teams are Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Kent State, South Carolina, Stony Brook and UCLA. Each team, with the exception of South Carolina, has at least one player trying to win a national championship before joining the NWL this summer.

The CWS double-elimination round wraps up on Friday, June 22, when the field will be narrowed to just two teams. Those two teams will play a best of three series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha June 24-26 to decide who will be crowned college baseball’s best.

The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. The League has 16 teams in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and Ontario. The is in its 19th season.
