St. Cloud 13, Rochester 4 In the only Northwoods game of the night the St. Cloud River Bats beat the Rochester Honkers 13-4 in St. Cloud. The River Bats put up a seven run third inning to take a 8-2 lead going into the fourth inning.

Nyistzor Leads Hit Parade

Steve Nyistzor (Rutgers) had a four-hit performance for the River Bats Monday to beat the Rochester Honkers. The short-stop also had two runs scored, two RBI and a triple. Nyistzor is hitting .324 with 13 extra base hits in 111 at bats. For Rutgers he led the team in batting average at .410. He also had 24 extra base hits to go along with 11 steals, 51 RBI, and a fielding percentage of .989. This is his third ‘Player of the Night’ award this season.

Wisroth Beats Honkers

Austen Wisroth (Wayne State-NE) threw 7.0 innings against the Rochester Honkers, the leaders of the North division. Wisroth gave up eight hits, but only gave up two earned runs. St. Cloud is now just .5 games back of the leading Honkers. The righty from Torrington, WY is now 1-2 on the season with a 3.90 ERA. Wisroth was 5-4 this season for Wayne State and second on the team with 63.1 innings pitched.

Green Bay 12, Waterloo 2 The Green Bay Bullfrogs got off to a quick start against the Waterloo Bucks in the final game of the three game series. The Bullfrogs beat the Bucks by a score of 12-2. Mike Thomas (Rider) picked up the win for the Frogs, going two innings in relief and allowing only three hits.

Big Day for Logger Marjama

La Crosse Logger, Mike Marjama (Sacramento CC), had a huge day at the plate today while helping the Loggers to a 8-5 victory over the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Copeland Park. Marjama was 4-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI. The Logger third basemen is currently hitting .306 with 17 RBI in 24 games. Marjama hit .345 this season with Sacramento CC while starting in 34 games. He was also selected 2nd Team All Big-8.

Wheeler Shuts Out MoonDogs

Jason Wheeler (Loyola Marymount) helped the St. Cloud River Bats to a victory over the Mankato MoonDogs. Wheeler threw 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball while only giving up one hit, the only hit the MoonDogs would get off of the River Bat pitching staff. Wheeler has a 1.35 ERA with a 3-0 record for the River Bats.

Showdown’s On Saturday

La Crosse 9, Wisconsin 8 The La Crosse Loggers took game one against the Wisconsin Woodchucks by a score of 9-8 Saturday night. The Loggers were led by Brandon Meredith (San Diego State) 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI with two doubles. The Logger pitching staff gave up eight runs, six of which were earned.

Schebler Stays Hot

Green Bay Bullfrog, Scott Schebler (Wichita State) had a huge day at the plate. He was 2-for-3 with a triple and his 5th home run of the season. He scored two runs and had an outstanding five RBI to help beat the Bucks 8-3. Schebler now leads the NWL in home runs while batting an impressive .314. He currently had 13 extra base hits on the season.

McKeon Earns Win for Honkers

Josh McKeon (Upper Iowa) threw a great game for the Rochester Honkers Saturday night. McKeon’s efforts led the Honkers to a 9-1 victory over the Brainerd Area Lakes Lunkers. The Rochester native threw 5.0 innings while only giving up three hits and zero runs. McKeon was 4-2 on the mound this spring for Upper Iowa and led the team in innings pitched (55.1).

St. Cloud 9, Thunder Bay 4 The St. Cloud River Bats beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats at Port Arthur Stadium by a score of 9-4. St. Cloud took an early 4-0 lead and never looked backed. The River Bats designated hitter, Armando Gutierrez (Missouri Baptist), went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
