Santa Clara junior Alex Rivers will be joining the Mallards pitching staff for his second season in Madison, becoming the seventh California native to be playing for Madison this summer. In 12 appearances last season for the Mallards, the right handed pitcher notched a 3.68 ERA and struck out 38 batters in 51.1 innings, going 4-1 on the season. This year for Santa Clara, Rivers went 5-5 with a 4.85 ERA, while striking out 67 batters in 78 innings pitched. Joining already-signed Wisconsin-native Kurtis Muller (Iowa) this season for the Mallards are state products Chris Barker (OF) and Cody Winiarski (RHP), both from nearby MATC. Barker and Winiarksi are in action today as the Wolfpack host the North Plains District Tournament at Robin Roberts Field.

The Battle Creek Bombers are pleased to announce the signings of three more players to their 2009 roster. Pitchers Matt Talley and Chance Hill, along with outfielder Ray Anderson, will join the Bombers for the 2009 season.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods League announced today the signing of four more players for the 2009 season. Joining the Cats are pitcher Matt Dwyer, outfielder Garrett Houts, first baseman/pitcher Colin Bear, and third baseman/pitcher A.J. Schugel.

Sophomore pitcher Jacob Petricka of Indiana State University (Terre Haute, IN) and freshman pitcher Danny Jimenez of John A. Logan College (Carterville, IL), have signed on to play for the MoonDogs this season.

Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho announced today the addition of three pitchers to his 2009 roster. Joining the Express will be San Diego State University left-hander Craig Rasmussen, Central Michigan University right-hander Devan Kline and University of Texas of the Permian Basin right-hander Drew Kendrick. The trio brings the Express roster to 25 with just over two weeks until the opener.

Gabe Sandersius, a junior at the University of Dallas, has signed a contract with the Wisconsin Woodchucks and will be heading north to Wausau this summer. Sandersius is a left-handed pitcher and outfielder for the Crusaders.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced the signing of four players for the 2009 season. Joining the Cats are outfielder Tyler Baisley, shortstop Garrett Totten, and pitchers Matt Robertson and Randy Mower. The latest additions brings the Border Cats roster to 17 players.
