Maier Named New Beetles Field Manager

The Alexandria Beetles have named former assistant Seth Maier as their new Field Manager for the 2009 season. Maier was the Beetles hitting coach in 2008, helping guide Alexandria to a 35-31 record which included a franchise record 22 wins in the second half. Maier's Beetles led the Northwoods League in homeruns (41) while also finishing fourth in stolen bases (108), two statistical categories that rarely go hand-in-hand.
