FOND DU LAC, WI – The Dock Spiders and Rivets battled back and forth through tonight's game, but in the end Rockford was able to outlast the Spiders 6-5 in 10 innings.

For the second straight day, the Rivets struck first with an RBI single off the bat of Neal Tyrell (Lewis) in the second inning. Tyrell finished the day going 3-6 and finishes the 2 game series with 4 runs driven in.

Rockford struck for 2 more in the 4th inning off of a single from Cal Aldridge (UW-Whitewater). Spiders starter Ryan Connolly (Iowa Western) was chased from the game after going 3.2 innings pitched.

After falling behind 3-0, the Dock Spiders responded nicely with a 3 run inning in the bottom half of the 4th. Cory Wills (Yavapi Colelge) drove in 1 of the 3 runs in the 4th.

Fondy would take their first lead of the night in the 6th inning when Wills would score on a wild pitch thrown by Rivet starter Clay Moffitt (LSU-Eunice).

The lead didn't last for long, as the Rivets plated 2 runs in the 7th. Anthony Forte (LSU-Eunice) drove in the 2 runs on a soft single into shallow left field.

Despite getting into 7th and 8th inning jams, the Rivets would hold the 5-4 lead heading into the 9th.

After an error and a sacrifice bunt to start the bottom of the 9th, Collin Braithwaite (Illinois State) ripped an double to the right-center alley that plated Luke Mangieri (Bradley) to knot the game up at 5 a piece with only 1 man out. However, the Dock Spiders couldn't cash in.

After only 1 extra inning, the Rockford Rivets defeated the Dock Spiders 6-5 from a Ryan Hutchinson RBI fielder's choice (Illinois State).

Fondy has now dropped 3 straight (all at home) and hit the road to take on the 7-1 Wisconsin Rapids Rafters tomorrow night at 6:35. Fond du Lac is expected to start Gunnar Kay (Illinois Springfield). Kay has pitched in 2 games and has allowed 4 runs (6.75 ERA).
