WAUSAU, WI- Behind the big night from the Dock Spiders' bats, Fondy sweeps the Wisconsin Woodchucks in game two of the series by a final score of 10-5.
For the second straight night, the offense was alive and well for the Dock Spiders. Following last night's nine run performance, Fondy struck for ten runs on twelve hits.
It started in the first inning with a pair of runs for the Spiders. Andrew Bullock continues to swing the bat well as he had his team leading 14th RBI on the season. Through his first eleven starts, Bullock has recorded an RBI in nine of those games.
The Woodchucks would score one in the 2nd inning off of Dock Spiders starter Connor Johnson. It was the first run surrendered this year from Connor Johnson (who worked five innings, gave up seven hits, and allowed two runs on his way to his 2nd win of the season).
Fondy busted the game open in the third with five runs thanks to an error, a wild pitch, RBI singles from Chris Cornelius (Missouri) and Cory Wills (Yavapi College), and an RBI double from Thomas Luevano (Crieghton). It was 7-2 after 3 innings.
Chris Cornelius and Colin Ridout would each add their first home runs of the year later in the game. Cornelius turned an 0-2 count into a solo home run in the 6th inning. In the 7th inning with a runner on, Ridout would smash his first home run of the season as well, and it was 10-2 after.
Wisconsin would rally late for three runs in the 9th which included a solo home run for Stevie Mangrum (Virginia Tech) who now leads the Northwoods League with 7 dingers. However, the rally was too little and too late.
The Dock Spiders now have won two games in a row after dropping their previous eight. Back in action tomorrow night, Fond du Lac takes on the Kenosha Kingfish for the first time this season. First pitch is 7:05 and Tristan Baker is the projected starter for the Dock Spiders.
