FOND DU LAC, WI- A day after an off day in the Northwoods League the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (29-19) set a season high in runs in a 14-1 win over the Rockford Rivets (20-28).
Austin Wagner (Ellsworth CC) had the start on the mound for Fondy and shined from the start. The Fond du Lac native retired the order in the first two frames. Wagner would finish the night throwing for 7 innings, allowing six hits, one run, and dished out four strikeouts.
Rockford got one the board first in the fourth inning but the Dock Spiders would answer quickly. Braden Stutzman (Oregon) started the scoring for Fond with a 2 out two RBI double which put the Dock Spiders up 2-1 after 4 innings.
Dock Spiders would pick up two one RBI singles in the 5th for a 4-1 lead thanks to Jack Wassel (Minnesota) and Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina).
Wassel earned player of the game honoree tonight and desrvingly so. In the 6th inning with the bases loaded Wassel would clear the bases with a double and his third hit of the night putting the score at 7-1.
In the 7th frame Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) picked uo two RBI of his own driving in runs number eight and nine on a base hit.
Fond du Lac would also grab four runs in the 8th inning highlighted by a Mitch Boe (Iowa) two RBI single.
Fond du Lac will close out the series vs. Rockford tomorrow night for Christmas in July night at the ballpark. First pitch at 6:35 PM.
