The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers 8-0 in a crushing defeat. The Dock Spiders quick two game stint with the Growlers ended in a split.

The Dock Spiders sent Aaron Ball (Kankakee CC) to the mound where he went four innings and only allowing two earned runs. Ryan Miller (Benedictine University) would relieve three innings and allow two earned runs.

Cherokee LeBeau (Oakland University) had two of the six hits and played outstanding defense for the Dock Spiders. The Dock Spiders staff only allowed two walks over the course of nine innings.

The Growlers offense continued to get timely hits and runs against the Dock Spiders pitching staff. They put together a crucial two run inning in the fourth on an RBI triple, followed up by an RBI single to make it 3-0.

The Dock Spiders would string together six hits over nine innings, but couldn’t capitalize with runners in scoring position. They stranded eight runners, with multiple innings of runners in scoring position and less than two outs.

In the seventh the Growlers tacked on two more by a two run single from Shea Kreamer. And then a three-run homerun in the eighth put the dagger in the Dock Spiders hopes of winning, by taking an 8-0 lead into the ninth.

The Dock Spiders head to Battle Creek Thursday night for a two game series against the Battle Creek Bombers. First pitch set for 6:05 PM CST.
