FOND DU LAC, WI– The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (4-3) and the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (5-2) went to battle tonight, but the Rafters shutout the Dock Spiders. The Dock Spiders couldn’t get anything going offensively.
Aaron Ball Jr. (Kankakee) took the mound tonight for his first home start and the Dock Spiders didn’t play the best defensively. Five runs came across the board and only two of the runs came across the board from balls put in play.
A passed ball, wild pitch, and a double steal brought home three of the runs. No balls were really hit hard against any of the pitchers the Dock Spiders threw tonight.
The only two RBI came from infield groundouts. Offensively the Dock Spiders would get men on base, but just couldn’t put together any type of rally.
They would never get a runner to third all night. The only time they would get runners in scoring position was with two outs. A few innings of runners on first and second, but it usually happened with two outs.
Some notable offensive performances from Sam Novitske (Oregon) and Zack Prajzner (Notre Dame).
Novitske continued to stay hot tonight by putting together a 2-4 night at the plate. Prajzner would also tally two hits for the Dock Spiders.
Those two tallied four combined hits, as the offense only put six together.
Tough two games for the Dock Spiders as they hit the road tomorrow night to face the Rafters for a 7:05 PM CST first pitch.
