FOND DU LAC, WI– The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (9-9) sweep the Wisconsin Woodchucks (7-11). They took two in the home-away series and now sit to see if they’ll remain in third or fourth place.
Andrew Neu (Madison) took the ball this afternoon and had one blemish of an inning after a two run first inning, he settled in nicely. Only allowed three runs total and struck out four.
The Dock Spiders would find themselves trailing 3-0 but never found themselves out of the fight. They would claw back in the fifth inning.
In Neu’s final inning of work the Dock Spiders bats came alive. A four run, two out rally sparked the Dock Spiders.
An RBI single by Cam McMillan (Vanderbilt) brought home the first run of the game. A bases loaded walk to Kellen Sarver (Illinois) would cut it down to a run deficit.
Then it was Aaron Anderson (Flagler) who delivered the final blow of the inning with a two run single. All four runs on two outs.
Another run came across after a throwing error set up a runner to third in the seventh inning. Sam Novitske (Oregon) followed up with an RBI single to give them a 5-3 lead.
In the eighth the Dock Spiders would even more insurance runs on the board. An RBI single by Tim Elko (Mississippi) and McMillan would get another RBI to make it 7-3.
Isaac Dirker (UW-Milwaukee) would come in for the final four innings and shut down the Woodchucks bats.
It’s another win for the Dock Spiders 7-3. They hit the road to face the Lakeshore Chinooks for a double-header tomorrow starting at 11:35 AM CST. It’s the start of a four game road trip.
