WAUSAU, WI— The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (10-11) and the Wisconsin Woodchucks (9-12) had themselves a pitchers duel up until the seventh inning. That’s when it all went down hill for the Dock Spiders.
River Carbone (Arizona Christian) got the call to start and he dealt for the Dock Spiders. He would go to the seventh inning before giving up two hits and leaving it up to the bullpen.
Carbone would go six innings and allowed four runs, but only two were earned and striking out eight. The offense just couldn’t get the clutch hits at all.
They would tie it up in the fifth after trailing 2-0. With two outs Duncan Hunter (Jacksonville) roped an RBI triple to score the first run.
Charlie Maxwell (Northwestern) would follow up with a game tying single. They would go to the seventh tied at two.
That’s when it all fell apart. After going to the bullpen, six runs would come across before the Dock Spiders could get the first out of the inning.
From there you could see the air sucked out of the offense. The couldn’t get anything going in their final two frames and would take the 8-2 loss.
They wrap up their season series with the Woodchucks tomorrow night at 6:35 PM CST.
