FOND DU LAC, WI – The Dock Spiders (31-16) fell in game one of their home-and-home series to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (34-11) on Wednesday night, 11-2.

Fondy was coming out of a series sweep over the Green Bay Booyah, a two-game set dominated by the pitching staff that saw a no-hitter go into the ninth in game two. On the flip side, the Rafters, who came in with the best earned run average in the pod, were able to silence the league’s best-hitting team in the Dock Spiders in a strong showing from their rotation.

Wisconsin Rapids went up 1-0 after bringing home a run in their first ups.

Fond du Lac took the lead for the time being after they were also able to plate two in their first inning at the plate. AJ Miller (University of Oregon) launched a double into right-center to tie the game, and Kollyn All (Butler University) brought home the second and final run on a sacrifice fly.

The Rafters put up a three-spot in the third inning to go up for good. They would add runs in the final three innings as well, scoring seven between the seventh and ninth inning to get to double digits and win 11-2 for their fourth consecutive victory.

The Dock Spiders will end the regular season on the road and take on the Rafters from Witter Field tonight at 6:35.
