FOND DU LAC, WI – The Dock Spiders had to wait a little longer than usual to earn their third consecutive victory on Sunday as a three-hour rain delay suspended play in the sixth inning. Despite the wait, Fond du Lac defeated the Madison Mallards, 6-5, to stay within a half-game of first place in the Great Lakes West divisional standings race. 

Key Plays

  • To tie the game in the first inning, Ryan Lasko singled to score Victor Scott from third base
  • Later In the second inning, Josh Spiegel bashed his first home run of the season over the left field wall to extend Fond du Lac’s lead to 4-1
  • McGwire Holbrook totaled his third RBI of the summer in the third inning on a single to centerfield that brought Ryan Lasko home to score

Key Players

  • Following the rain delay, Ryan Kutt entered to pitch for the Dock Spiders and retired 10-straight Mallards batters, totaling five strikeouts to seal the win for Fondy
  • Caleb Durbin finished 2-3 on Sunday with one RBI
