FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (9-8) head to Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (8-11) in their final match-up of the first half. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:20 p.m. on the Dock Spiders Radio Network.

TODAY’S STORYLINES

WHAT JUST HAPPENED: In a four-plus hour game that featured 28 combined walks, 28 combined strikeouts and saw 13 stolen bases, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders fell on the scoreboard, 8-6, to the Lakeshore Chinooks at home on Friday night. The loss was later removed by the Northwoods League, but all stats from the game counted towards official records. Grant Hussey tallied his third multi-hit game of the year alongside the second in two days from Alejandro Macario. Hussey doubled in the first and the second inning, helping to drive home the go-ahead run in the second.

GETTING TO PITCHING EARLY: On Friday night, the Dock Spiders chased Chinooks starter George Klassen in the second inning after they tallied five runs. It marked the second time in three games that the Dock Spiders knocked a starter out before the end of the fourth inning. The Dock Spiders have tallied 14 runs off starting pitchers over the last three games, an average of 4.7 per game.

SWIPING BASES: The Dock Spiders tallied four stolen bases during Friday night’s game, bringing their total up to 38 on the year. Their total of 38 is fifth-best in the Northwoods League, and best in the Great Lakes West Division. Evan Stone tallied his team-leading seventh stolen base on Friday night. The Lakeshore Chinooks and Wausau Woodchucks are the only other teams in the division that have stolen at least 30 bases.

ONE LAST TIME: Today’s game marks the final visit by the Dock Spiders to Kapco Park in the first half, which ends on July 4. It marks their fourth visit to Kapco Park and the sixth time the two teams have matched up. The Chinooks swept the Dock Spiders at Kapco Park during a two-game series on June 10 and 11. After today, the next match-up between the two teams will take place on July 8.

THE ROAD AHEAD: Today marks the first game of a two-game road trip for the Dock Spiders before they return home on Monday for a single game against the Madison Mallards, and then embark on a five-game road trip. The Dock Spiders have split their first 18 games evenly, with nine at home and nine on the road. For the Chinooks, today marks the first game of a four game home-stand, with a home series against the Wausau Wooodchucks getting underway tomorrow afternoon.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHING MATCH-UP

LHP KALEB HILL (FDL): Hill makes his first appearance of the summer after joining the Dock Spiders from Charleston Southern. Hill was originally drafted in the 39th round out of high school by Cleveland and chose not to sign. He spent time at Ole Miss and Crowder College before Charleston Southern.

LHP TOMMY LAMB (LAK): Lamb makes his second straight start against the Dock Spiders after he allowed two runs in six innings of work last Saturday in a 5-4 Chinooks win. The Creighton righty has allowed just eight hits on the year.
