TODAY’S STORYLINES

RECAPPING THE ROAD TRIP: Tonight’s game marks the first time the Dock Spiders have played at Herr-Baker Field since Monday, July 4 against Madison. The Dock Spiders were a perfect 3-0 on their road trip and extended their winning streak to six straight. Over that three-game span, the Dock Spiders outscored their opponents 28-14.

THIS MAN IS ON FIRE: After another three-hit night on Friday, OF Nick Mitchell notched his sixth multi-hit game in a row, and raised his average to .374, fourth-best in the Northwoods League. In 30 starts, Mitchell has recorded a multi-hit game 15 times, a team high. Over his current stretch, he’s hitting .593 (16-27) with four doubles, three triples and eight RBI.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE STREAKS: With a win on Friday night at Lakeshore, the Dock Spiders stretched their win streak to six in a row, their longest since they tied the franchise record with a nine game winning streak from July 27-August 5, 2020. Oddly enough, both win streaks have come after the Dock Spiders have allowed at least 20 runs in a game. The Dock Spiders allowed a Northwoods League record 28 runs to the Rockford Rivets before their winning streak in 2020, and lost 24-7 to Kalamazoo on Thursday, June 24, 2022 prior to their current win streak.

SECOND HALF STARTS: After a franchise-best start in the first half, the Dock Spiders improved to 3-0 in the second half with their win on Friday night. Over the past three seasons under the half-season format (2019, 2021-22), the Dock Spiders have started the second half with an undefeated record through their first three games. Their best second half start came in 2021, when the team got off to a 5-0 start.

IT’S BEEN AWHILE: On Friday night, RHP Luke Vaks tossed four shutout innings to extend his scoreless streak to 15.0 innings, the longest by any Dock Spiders pitcher this year. Over that streak, which has spanned seven appearances and 20 days, he has allowed just four hits, and has struck out 17 batters. RHP Reed Gallant (12 innings) is the only other Dock Spiders pitcher with an active scoreless streak of at least 10 innings.

WANTED FOR THEFT: In just 10 games with the Dock Spiders, SS Jackson Loftin has already notched a team-high 11 stolen bases. On Friday, Loftin tallied his third game with multiple stolen bases this year and the 16th time he has done so in his Dock Spiders career (2021-22). Over his last five games, Loftin has recorded seven stolen bases.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHING MATCH-UP

RHP DAVID HAGAMAN (FDL) makes his fourth home start of the year, and his first start against the Chinooks. Over his last two starts (6.0 IP), Hagaman has allowed one earned run and has struck out eight batters. At home, Hagaman has posted a 1.80 ERA over 15 innings.

LHP TOMMY LAMB (LAK) is set to make his third start against the Dock Spiders, and his first at Herr-Baker Field. Over his two starts against the Dock Spiders, Lamb has allowed three runs over 12 innings, a 2.25 ERA.
