FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (23-20, 4-5) travel to Kapco Park for the final time during the 2022 season to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (23-21, 5-3). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:20 on the Dock Spiders Radio Network.

TODAY’S STORYLINES

ONE MORE TIME: Tonight’s game between the Dock Spiders and Chinooks marks the final match-up between the two teams at Kapco Park this year. In the last two match-ups in Mequon, the Dock Spiders have outscored the Chinooks 10-3, and have won both games. The Dock Spiders come into today off a shutout loss on Wednesday to the Madison Mallards, their first since July 22, 2021 at Madison. The Chinooks come into today off a series split with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

HOOK, LINE AND SINKER: Today marks the eighth game between the Chinooks and Dock Spiders in 2022. Both OF Nick Mitchell and 1B Grant Hussey are hitting above .300 against the Chinooks this year. Mitchell is 7-22 (.318) with six RBI and just one strikeout, while Hussey is 6-19 (.316) with three doubles and four RBI.

TWIRLING A SHUTOUT: On Wednesday afternoon in Madison, the Dock Spiders bullpen combined for 6.2 shutout innings, including five shutout innings from RHP Reed Gallant. His five innings tied his career-high, set on February 22, 2021 against Houston Baptist. Wednesday marked the first time the bullpen did not allow a run while throwing at least four innings since Friday, July 8, 2022 at Lakeshore, where the bullpen shut out the Chinooks over the final eight innings of the night.

ALUMNI UPDATE: In the majors, C Nick Fortes (2017) is currently hitting .274/.366/.500 with the Miami Marlins. One of the highest risers throughout the Cardinals organization has been former Dock Spiders RHP Ryan Loutos (2020-21), who is currently in Triple-A with the Memphis Redbirds after starting the year in High-A Peoria. This year, Loutos has a 2.76 ERA across 28 appearances and three levels. On Wednesday night, Loutos earned his first Triple-A save. He was promoted to Triple-A on July 1 after a 1.61 ERA at Double-A Springfield and a 3.14 ERA at High-A Peoria. LHP Conor Dryer (2018-19) is also currently enjoying success in the minors, with the third-lowest ERA (2.41) out of all pitchers with at least 35 innings pitched on the High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods in the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

HELLO DRAFT DAY: The 2022 MLB Draft is set to begin on Sunday with the first of 20 rounds held between July 17-19. Former Dock Spiders INF Chandler Simpson is currently ranked as the 88th-best prospect in the draft by Baseball America, the highest out of any draft eligible Dock Spider. Simpson broke the NWL single-season stolen base record with 55 in 2021, and was named the Great Lakes Division Co-MVP. Former Dock Spiders OF Victor Scott (#191) and RHP Derek Diamond (#209) are also both ranked in the Baseball America Top-500 list.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHING MATCH-UP

RHP TREY SEELEY (FDL) is set to make his first start of the 2022 summer. The Cypress righty made 14 starts this spring, including a career-high seven innings on April 21, 2021 at Fullerton. This summer, Seeley has gone multiple innings in both of his appearances.

RHP JOE GLASSEY (LAK) is set to start for the Chinooks tonight. Over his four starts this summer, he has struck out 15 batters, and has allowed two runs or less in every start.
