FOND DU LAC, WI – After a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (29-26, 10-11) are back in green Bay to take on the Green Bay Rockers (22-33, 12-7) at Capital Credit Union Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. in game one of the series, with coverage beginning at 6:20 on the Dock Spiders Radio Network.

TODAY’S STORYLINES

CYCLING THROUGH: During game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Madison Mallards, Dock Spiders INF Branden Comia became the first player in franchise history to hit for the cycle. Comia, who was named the Northwoods League Player of the Night, went 4-5 at the plate with five RBI, which tied his career-high. Over his last nine games, Comia has put up video-game numbers, with four home runs, 20 RBI, and a slash line of .412/.500/.941. Comia’s home run on Wednesday also marked his third at home this year. Comia and C Cole Messina, who homered in the same inning, marked the first Dock Spiders to hit more than two at home in a year since OF Brandon Wulff and OF Eric Gilgenbach both hit four in 2017.

WELCOME TO THE LAUNCHING PAD: On Tuesday, the last time the Dock Spiders and Rockers played each other, the teams combined to hit eight home runs, including the first home run of the summer from C Bennett Thompson. In 25 games at home for the Rockers this year, 66 home runs have been hit, an average of one every 31 plate appearances. For comparison, Herr-Baker Field sees a home run hit once every 83 plate appearances.

NO RUNS FOR YOU: In game two of Wednesday;’s doubleheader, the Dock Spiders pitching staff tossed their first shutout of the year in an 11-0 win. RHP Trey Seeley, RHP Garner Spoljaric, and RHP George Henkel combined for the shutout and allowed three hits and three walks. The shutout was the first from the Dock Spiders since July 23, 2021, against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, and their first at home since August 17, 2020, in a 10-0 win against the Green Bay Rockers.

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS: Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of the Madison Mallards was the first by the Dock Spiders since June 23, 2021, against the Wausau Woodchucks at Herr-Baker Field. Over the two-game sweep on Wednesday, the Dock Spiders outscored the Mallards 25-6.

RECORD WATCH: Wednesday’s doubleheader saw three home runs hit by the Dock Spiders to set a new franchise record for the most home runs hit at home in a season with 14. The previous record was 13, set in 2017, the first year in franchise history. Entering today, the Dock Spiders are on the verge of setting two new franchise records for the most triples and the most runs scored in a single season. The Dock Spiders have hit 18 triples, one shy of the franchise record set in 2017. The team has also scored 389 runs, which is 37 runs away from the franchise record of 426, also set during the 2017 season. To break the franchise record, the Dock Spiders need to average 2.4 runs per game over their final 16.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHING MATCH-UP

RHP DAVID HAGAMAN (FDL) makes his first road start since June 22 at Wisconsin Rapids after five straight home starts. In his last start, on Thursday against the Rafters, the righty set a career-high with 89 pitches over five-plus innings. He went into the sixth for the first time since July 24, 2021, against the Brockton Rox as a member of the Pittsfield Suns.

LHP LUKE SINGLETON (GB) will make his fourth start of the year, and his third at home. In his last start on Sunday against Lakeshore, Singleton allowed five runs in 3.1 innings.
