FOND DU LAC, WI – After a lengthy game on Saturday night delayed twice by rain, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (34-30, 15-15) are back at Athletic Park to take on the Wausau Woodchucks (32-31, 15-12) in the season series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m., with pregame coverage starting at 12:50 on the Dock Spiders Radio Network.


A RAINY SATURDAY NIGHT: Saturday night’s game between the Dock Spiders and Woodchucks featured two rain delays that lasted two hours and five minutes… In 66 games, the Dock Spiders have endured three rain delays, all at Athletic Park in Wausau… The game took five hours and 40 minutes, including the delays, and ended at 11:50 p.m. CT… Today’s game is scheduled for first pitch at 1:05 p.m. CT, 13 hours and 15 minutes after the last out was recorded on Saturday.

THE FINAL TIME: Today’s game marks the final meeting between the Dock Spiders and Woodchucks in 2022, and the Dock Spiders have the chance to win the season series for the sixth straight year… Since 2017, the first year of the Dock Spiders, they’ve never lost a season series to the Woodchucks, and enter today 39-20 all-time against Wausau, a .667 winning percentage. In 11 games against the Woodchucks, the Dock Spiders have outscored them 103-65, and have averaged 9.4 runs per game at the plate… OF Nick Mitchell (.442/.510/.721, 11 RBI), C/INF Parker Noland (.571/.643/.714, 6 RBI), and OF Andrew Sojka (10-16, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 0 K) have all seen a massive hot streak against Wausau this season. The Dock Spiders have also recorded a .435 on-base percentage against Wausau, 60 points above league average.

CLOSING IN ON HISTORY (AGAIN): Dock Spiders OF Nick Mitchell tallied his 49th RBI of the year, the fifth-most in the Northwoods League and the second-most in a single season in Dock Spiders history (since 2017)… INF Jackson Loftin set the current single-season franchise record in 2021 when he drove in 52… Mitchell needs four RBI over the final seven games to set a new franchise record… Entering today, Mitchell has already set the single-season franchise record in hits (85), runs (72), triples (7), and at-bats (229)… If Mitchell plays in four of the final seven games, he’ll break OF Ryan Lasko’s franchise record for the most games played in a single season, set at 59 in 2021.

THE FINAL STRETCH: After today, the Dock Spiders will have six games remaining in the 2022 regular season… Over that span, they’ll take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters four times and the Lakeshore Chinooks twice… The Dock Spiders have a magic number of six to make the 2022 playoffs and are a combined 5-12 (.294) against their final two opponents.

PATH TO THE PLAYOFFS: If the season ended today, the Dock Spiders would make the playoffs, as they enter today with the second-best overall record in the Great Lakes West Division, a game and a half ahead of the Lakeshore Chinooks and Wausau Woodchucks with seven games remaining… If the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters win the second-half division title, the final playoff spot in the division will go to the next-best overall record… If the Rafters beat the Green Bay Rockers this afternoon, they will clinch the second-half division title.


RHP TREY SEELEY (FDL) is set to make his fourth start and 10th appearance of the year for the Dock Spiders… In his only appearance against Wausau, at home on July 30, he allowed a run in 2.1 relief innings… Today marks his first start since game two of a doubleheader on July 27 against Madison.

RHP LOGAN SNOW (WAU) will make his first start and second appearance with the Woodchucks… In his only appearance, Snow earned the save on August 3 in an 8-6 win against Kenosha… At Menlo College this spring, he made 11 starts.
