FOND DU LAC, WI – The Dock Spiders fell to the Rafters for the second night in a row by a score of 3-1. Right-handed pitcher Sebastian Guzman (Washington University in St. Louis) was on the bump Friday night in Wisconsin Rapids as they Dock Spiders were on the hunt for revenge from Thursday night’s loss at home to the Rafters. Guzman pitched well throughout the first five innings as he kept the Rafters offense at bay. It was the Dock Spiders in the top of the sixth inning that scored the first run on an RBI single from shortstop Jacob Anderson (Michigan State) that scored catcher Lorenzo Rios (Presbyterian) which gave the Dock Spiders a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Rafters were able to get to Guzman as an RBI sacrifice fly from Garrett Broussard (Utah Valley) that brought third baseman Brendan Bobo (Cal State Fullerton) into score, which tied the game at 1-1. Then a groundout to Dock Spiders first baseman Teddy Deters (Xavier) that he had to dive for which scored Jack Gurevitch (University of San Diego) giving the Rafters a 2-1 lead.

After giving the Rafters the lead, Guzman was pulled from the game and left-handed pitcher Kade Walker (Cuesta College) was called upon to finish the game. In the very next at bat, Walker missed his spot and the ball rolled to the backstop which allowed designated hitter Shane Taylor to score the final run of the night for the Rafters. The Dock Spiders offense was stagnant in the late innings as they were retired in order in the top of the ninth, which gave the Rafters the victory. The loss dropped the Dock Spiders to 9-17 on the season as they now look ahead to a home and home set with the Lakeshore Chinooks. The Dock Spiders are back in action on the road tomorrow night at Kapco Park first pitch is set for 6:35 PM.
