FOND DU LAC, WI – After the Dock Spiders had their four-game winning streak snapped by the Rockers on Monday night, the Dock Spiders got their revenge as they bested the Rockers 10-3 in Capital Credit Union Park. The Dock Spiders scored five runs in the top of the second inning, capped off by a three-run home run from Drew Barragan (Embry Riddle Aeronautical). In the top of the fourth inning, the Dock Spiders scored four more runs as they used a huge two run double from Seth Sweet-Chick (Nevada) which gave the Dock Spiders a commanding 9-0 lead. The Rockers responded in the bottom of the fourth as Carlos Hernandez (Anderson) jacked a two-run home run which dented the Dock Spiders lead. Dock Spiders starting pitcher Sebastian Guzman (Washington-St. Louis) settled in as he hurled six innings of two run ball and gave up five hits on the night. In the top of the sixth, Drew Barragan reached on an error by Rockers third basemen Jayson Jones (Arkansas) which scored Lorenzo Rios (Northwestern) and gave the Dock Spiders a 10-2 lead. The Rockers scratched one run in the bottom of the eighth as Jayson jones flied out which scored Zane Zielinski (Illinois at Chicago) and made the score 10-3. Dock Spiders reliever Mitchel Johnson (Catholic-America) entered the game and shut down the Rockers in the bottom of the ninth which gave the Dock Spiders the victory.
Dock Spiders starter Sebastian Guzman (Arkansas) earned the win, his second of the season. Rockers starter Logan Lee (Middle Georgia State) was tagged with his first loss of the season. The Dock Spiders improved to 28-34 on the season, 15-12 in the second half. With the win, The Dock Spiders are tied with the Rafters for second place in the Great Lakes West Division. The Dock Spiders will be back in action on Thursday night at Witter Field as they take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. The Dock Spiders will be back at home on Friday night as they take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
