FOND DU LAC, WI – The Dock Spiders ended the 2023 season on a two-game winning streak as they bested the Chinooks 7-4 at Kapco Park on Saturday night. The Dock Spiders wasted no time as they tallied four runs in the top of first inning, capped off by an RBI single from Jared Heinzen (Wisconsin-Parkside) that scored Lorenzo Rios (Northwestern). The Chinooks responded in the bottom of the inning as they notched two runs, topped off by an RBI single from Will Johannes (Madison) that scored Gabe Roessler (Madison) which made the score 4-2. In the top of the third, Paul Wittmann (West Texas A&M) laced an RBI single that scored Parker Knoll (Lawrence) and gave the Dock Spiders a 5-2 lead. The Chinooks tallied two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Dock Spiders scratched an insurance run across in the top of the ninth as Drew Barragan cranked an RBI double that scored Paul Wittmann and gave the Dock Spiders a 7-4 lead. Zach Silfies was called in from the bullpen in the bottom of the ninth and closed the game as he struck out Jack Counsell (Michigan) to end the game.

Dock Spiders starter Eric Sipling (Rochester Institute of Technology) earned the win, his third of the season. Chinooks starter Gradin Taschner (Illinois State) was tagged with his fourth loss of the season. The Dock Spiders finished the season 30-42 on the season, 17-20 in the second half. The Dock Spiders want to thank all fans for their constant support throughout this season and we look forward to seeing everyone at Herr-Baker Field next season!
