LOVES PARK, IL- Rockford (36-26) got some revenge on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (31-32) Friday night by defeating Fondy 13-5.
On a night following a 17 run performance, the Dock Spiders offense got off to a slow start as they failed to score through the first five innings. They were shut down by Rockford starter Alex Bacevicius who finished after 7.1 innings and allowed 5 late runs in his 3rd victory of the season.
Fondy starter Jacob Barton, making his last start in a Spiders uniform, was nearly flawless through the first three innings. However with two outs in the 4th, Rockford put six straight batters on base and plated four runs. The 4th inning kick started the Rivets lineup as they would go on to score multiple runs in the last four innings. Brian Klein and Anthony Forte led the way for the Rivets driving three runs in each.
After a slow start, Fondy's offense scored in innings six, seven and eight. Chris Cornelius and KV Edwards added an RBI each, and Thomas Luevano hit his first homer of the season to start the 8th inning. Andrew Bullock would add two more runs on a double later in the inning as well. Bullock has 9 RBI over his last four games and leads the team with 40.
Fondy will look to respond tomorrow evening at Battle Creek.
