It’s time to check in with some Dock Spiders players from last summer to see how their experience was and what to expect during their upcoming college season!

What was your favorite Dock Spiders moment from the regular season of 2018?
My favorite part of the regular season was getting to be a part of a team again. Before coming to the Dock Spiders, I didn’t know if I would pitch again so the experience offered me a chance to continue my career.
What was your favorite moment during the Northwoods League championship run in August?
For me personally, starting the championship game was a great moment. It was awesome to have the support and trust from my teammates and coaches that I would give us a chance to win the game. Plus ending the season holding a championship trophy with your team is always a great thing.
What was your favorite part about being in Fond du Lac?
My favorite part of Fondy was the atmosphere in the town. Even with the team being relatively new to the area, the crowds were always great. I also met a lot of great people during my stay there including my amazing host family.
How did the Northwoods League experience help you grow as a player?
The Northwoods league gave me a chance to see what it is like to play in a professional atmosphere. It also allowed me to play against some really good talent every time I stepped on the mound.
How your first professional experience last year, and what are you looking forward to in 2019?
My first professional experience was pretty crazy. I got a call late one night asking if I could start a game the next day for the team. So the next morning I left at about 6am and drove the 10 hours to Indiana for the game. I had about 2 hours once I got there before the game started so I didn’t have much time to get ready. The game went really well though, and I got the win in my first professional start which is always great. I stayed with the team for the rest of the season and got to go through another playoff run with this team. It was a great experience and one that wouldn’t have happened without the Dock Spiders. As for 2019 though, I am looking forward to experiencing life outside of baseball, as I decided to end my baseball career after last summer.
What advice would you provide future players who are coming to play for the Dock Spiders and in the Northwoods League?
If I was to give any advice to someone playing in the Northwoods, it would be that you get out of it what you put in. It’s a grind physically and mentally but, you never know who is watching so it’s important to show up every day and be the best person and athlete you can be.
