FOND DU LAC, WI– The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (11-14) took on the Madison Mallards (18-7) and it was the Mallards right from the jump who had the game.

How It Happened

  • Jonathan Cowles (Colorado-Colorado Springs) had a rough start after giving up four runs in the top of the first. That was all he would pitch.

  • After the Mallards chased Cowles in the first, they would tack on four more against Ryan Miller (Benedictine) in the fourth to make it 8-0.
  • The Dock Spiders would start to chip away in the bottom of the fourth. An RBI double by Zeb Adreon (Iowa) and an RBI single by Charlie Maxwell (Northwestern) would chop the deficit to 8-2.
  • Another two runs would be plated in the fifth by a Luke Robinson (Western Carolina) RBI double and an Adreon sac fly. It was 8-4 going into the sixth.
  • Bottom of the sixth the Dock Spiders would get Sam Novitske (Oregon) to drive in the fifth run after a lead off double by Maxwell and trimmed the lead to 8-5.
  • Then the Mallards would shut it down from there and add a run in the seventh on a passed ball and the Dock Spiders would not be able to put up anymore.
  • The Mallards bested the Dock Spiders 9-5.

Notable Performers

  • Aaron Anderson (Flagler) stayed hot with a 3-5 game with a run scored.

  • Robinson would go 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
  • Adreon went 1-3 with a double, RBI, Sac fly, and a walk.
