FOND DU LAC, WI– The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (14-21) and the Wisconsin Woodchucks (17-18) met up for a slugfest to end the first half of the season. The Dock Spiders put up a season high 13 runs in their final game of the first half.

 

It was all offense tonight from both teams. A combined 24 runs and 22 hits, but the Dock Spiders finally got on the winning end of things.

 

How it Happened

 

  • Sam Grace (Southern Illinois) would go his shortest outing of the season. The Woodchucks chased him after recording just one out and allowing six runs.

 

    • The Dock Spiders weren’t going to give up that easily. The offense chipped away and added two runs in the bottom of the first.

 

  • Tate Kolwyck (Vanderbilt) welcomed himself to Fond du Lac by getting the offense going with an RBI. Kellen Sarver (Illinois) would follow up with an RBI himself.
  • Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) added another home-run to his stats with a two-run blast in the second to cut the deficit to 6-4.
  • A Luke Robinson (Western Carolina) sac fly would cut the game within one in just the third inning. 
  • The Woodchucks would answer by adding two runs to increase their lead 8-5 in the fourth. 
  • An offensive explosion happened in the fifth inning when the Dock Spiders plated five runs to give themselves a 10-8 lead. 
  • The Woodchucks would not go away after tacking on three runs in the sixth to retake the lead 11-10.
  • The Dock Spiders would answer by tying the game on a balk to score the tying run. 
  • Cam McMillan (Vanderbilt) and Charlie Maxwell (Northwestern) would add on a pair of RBI and give the Dock Spiders the lead 13-11.
  • Max Cioffi (Mississippi) would shut down the Woodchucks offense with the three inning save to secure the victory. 

 

Notable Performers

    • Andrew Bullock went 2-4 with three RBI and a home run, with two runs scored.
    • Aaron Anderson (Flagler) went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. 
    • Tate Kolwyck went 3-5 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.

 

  • Duncan Hunter (Jacksonville) went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

 

  • Cam McMillan went 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
