FOND DU LAC, WI— It took three days to finish one game between the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders and the Kokomo Jackrabbits. After rain halted the game with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning on Monday night, the game was resumed Wednesday.
The Dock Spiders sent River Carbone (Arizona Christian) to the mound on Monday and he would give up an immediate run in the first inning.
The Dock Spiders would answer back with two of their own in the bottom of the inning. A passed ball would score Sam Novitske (Oregon) to tie it up.
Another wild pitch would bring home Zeb Adreon (Iowa) to make it 2-1. Carbone would give up the tying run the very next inning.
The rains came in the fourth and halted the 2-2 game. The Dock Spiders needed to be leading after the fifth inning to count it as an official game.
After resuming on Wednesday Brock Weirather (Grinnell) got the ball to go the rest of the way.
The Jackrabbits would strike in the seventh and take a 3-2 lead.
An RBI double by Zack Prajzner (Notre Dame) in the bottom of the seventh would tie it up at three. An inning later a wild pitch would score the go-ahead run for the Dock Spiders.
Max Cioffi (Mississippi) came in for the save and sealed the deal. The Dock Spiders would only last the top of the first inning before more rain came and the game was called.
With the Wisconsins Rapids Rafters losing to the Kenosha Kingfish, the Dock Spiders now sit 1.5 games back of first place with four games to play.
Catch them take on the Battle Creek Bombers on Thursday night and try and gain another game on the Rafters.
