WAUSAU, WI – The Dock Spiders scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning to jump to a 6-3 lead over the Woodchucks before a two-hour rain delay led to a suspension of play in Wausau on Thursday night.

Following the suspension of play, the Dock Spiders will make their way to La Crosse for a two-game series on July 3rd and 4th against the La Crosse Loggers.

Zach Lee started on the mound Thursday night and threw two scoreless innings of baseball going into the third. Ryan Loutos then came in for the bottom of the third in relief. A bases-loaded walk later in the inning would plate a run for the Woodchucks, followed by a throwing error that allowed another two runs to score to make it 3-0 Woodchucks.

The Dock Spiders came roaring back in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs in the inning, all of them with two outs. Brayden Frazier scored Fond du Lac’s first runs of the game after knocking a base hit to right-center that scored Jack Alexander and Aaron Anderson to bring Fondy to within a run (3-2).

Drew Stahl then drew a walk to put two runners on. The next batter, Victor Scott II, stepped in and sent a line drive into center that scored Frazier from second to tie it at three.

The highlight of the game came three pitches later when Sam Novitske crushed a three-run home run into left-center field that gave the Dock Spiders the lead, 6-3.

Parker Noland would only see two pitches when the umpire crew would stop play due to rain and thunderstorms in the area. Two hours after the delay started, it appeared play would resume, but the game was suspended due to poor dugout conditions.

Thursday night’s game will be continued on July 19th as a doubleheader at 1:05 pm. The originally scheduled game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game and will be played in seven innings.
