FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders fell to the Green Bay Rockers, 7-3, at Capital Credit Union Park on Thursday night in Green Bay.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Rockers and saw them improve to 24-38 on the year, and 14-12 in the second half. The Dock Spiders fell to 33-29 on the year and 14-14 in the second half.

The Rockers struck first in the first inning off Dock Spiders starter Gabe Stotler (Shippensburg) with a two-run home run from Griffin Stevens (Tiffin). After the home run, Stotler would retire the next five batters to keep the game at 2-0.

In the third, Nick Mitchell (Western Illinois) smashed his third home run of the year with a solo shot to right to cut the deficit to one. The Rockers would strike back with two runs in the fifth with a wild pitch and an RBI single from Stevens. Tyeler Hawkins (Louisville) in rightfield was able to cut down Chase Hudson (Coastal Carolina) at the plate to keep the game at 5-2.

Parker Noland (Vanderbilt) drove home a run in the sixth off reliever Kyle Stoddard (Lindenwood) for the Dock Spiders to cut the Rockers lead to 5-3. In the bottom of the inning, the Rockers scored two more off a two-run single from Clayton Slack (Marshalltown), who was nabbed trying to stretch it into a double by Hawkins for his second outfield assist of the night.

Stoddard would then toss three scoreless innings, and retired nine of the final 11 to close it out for the Rockers.

Tommy Leonzi (1-0, Hesston) took the win while Trey Seeley (0-2, Cypres) took the loss.

The Dock Spiders are back at home tomorrow night against the Rockers at Herr-Baker Field, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Tomorrow night is Heart Health Night with a Heart Healthy Weaver Bobblehead giveaway and post-game fireworks. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Heart Healthy Weaver bobblehead courtesy of SSM Health. Plus, all fans can enjoy post-game fireworks presented by the Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund. The Dock Spiders will also wear special Heart Health jerseys that are available for auction online until Monday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m.
