Green Bay, WI– The Growlers start a three game series with Green Bay by resuming a postponed game from June 12th. The game would resume in the top of the second with Growlers on first and third, no outs and the game tied 0-0.
Kzoo would take advantage of the situation they put themselves in on June 12th. Michael Diffley (SDSU) stepped to the plate to resume play and drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out for Connor Hollis (Houston). Hollis lined a base hit to left to get the Growlers on the board, then Jack Duffy (Missouri State) singled to right center driving in two more to make the score , 3-0 Kzoo. With the bases loaded and one out Jeff Riedel (Ball State) laid down perfect bunt down the first base line to plate Hollis, 4-0 Kzoo. The Growlers would get two more in the inning on a RBI walk from Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan), and an Infield single from Matt Schwarz (Old Dominion), 6-0 Growlers.
Kzoo would add one more in top of third on a two out RBI single from Jeff Riedel, 7-0 Kzoo. That RBI single was Jeff’s team leading 34th RBI of the year. From that point on it was all Growlers. Kzoo would go onto score 19 runs on 16 hits, and drawing 9 walks. The Growlers put up 5 runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to put away the Bullfrogs. The Growlers had four batters with multi RBI Games, Drew Huff (MTSU), Jeff Riedel, Connor Hollis, and Jack Duffy was the top offensive performer of the night going 4-6 with a 2 run homerun and 6 RBI’s . This was no doubt the Growlers most complete game of the year as Connor Manous (Indiana) got more than enough run support as he went 7 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 10. Kalamazoo would go on to win by the score of 19-6 and now are 3-3 Vs Green Bay on the year.
The season series will be decided tomorrow with a double header. Due to weather the double header was pushed to tomorrow, and the first game is scheduled to begin at 6:05 ET.
