Kalamazoo bats couldn’t come around against Traverse City

The offense for Kalamazoo only was able to generate four hits, with two coming in the third and fifth innings. Drew Blakely (UVA) was the only Growler to have a multi-hit ballgame. Brooks Coetzee (Notre Dame) and Emilio Rosas (U of Southern California) were the other two to get on the bases via a hit. The Growlers also stranded six runs in the game.

The starter for Traverse City, Kyle Jones (Toledo), went six innings, giving up four hits, walking only Miko Rodriguez (Texas A&M) and striking out three.

After coming off a complete game shutout in his last start, Adam Wheaton made it through 6.2 innings, allowing seven hits, five earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts.

Kalamazoo returns to action against Traverse City tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Michael Dunkelberger is the project starter for the Growlers.
