La Crosse, Wis. – Mike Nadratowski is returning for his second season in La Crosse. Originally from Canton, Michigan, Mike is a Junior at Division II Grand Valley State University (GVSU). GVSU is currently ranked seventh in Division II according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) posting a record of 19-7. Mike is the son of John and Kim Nadratowski.
This season with GVSU, Mike is hitting .259 while playing in 31 games with 30 starts. He is leading the team in stolen bases (12) sacrifice hits (6) and at bats (116). He has also hit two doubles and a triple while driving in 17 RBI and scoring 25 runs for the Lakers.
Last season with the Loggers, the outfielder hit .280 while playing in 56 games during the summer. Nadratowski was second on the team stolen bases (13) and was tied for most sacrifice hits (4).
In 2013 with GVSU, Mike received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Honorable Mention. He played and started in all 57 games for the Lakers. He hit .337, scored 41 runs, and added 70 hits including four doubles and two triples. Mike also had 24 RBI and a team-leading 19 stolen bases. Nadratowski had 20 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games. He hit .406 in the post season to raise his average from .306 to .337 in the final 15 games of the season. Against Charleston, went two-for-five with a run, walk and a career-high four RBI. He went four-for-five with two runs and two RBI against Lake Erie to open the GLIAC Tournament. In the Midwest Regional Tounament, went three-for-six with a run, a triple and three stolen bases. In the Division II College World Series, went four-for-five with a run, three RBI, a triple and stole a base against Shippensburg.
In his freshman campaign, Mike earned NCBWA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year. He was also named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) First Team All-Midwest Region as well as Daktronics and NCBWA Second Team All-Midwest Region. Mike also earned Second Team All-GLIAC, GLIAC Freshman of the Year and was named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team. Nadratowski played in 57 games and started 56 of those. He led the team in batting average (.414), runs (51), hits (79), and stolen bases (21). He added 22 RBI, 28 walks and posted a .496 on-base percentage and committed only one error defensively. He was second on the team with 25 multi-hit games, added four multi-RBI games. He also had six games with two stolen bases. In the GLIAC Championship game against Wayne State, he went five-for-six with three runs, two RBI and a double. He hit .429 in the postseason and ended the season on a 21-game reached base streak.
Mike attended high school at Plymouth High School. His senior year he hit for a .470 average, added seven home runs, 38 RBI and posted a .920 slugging percentage. He also added five triples along with 15 stolen bases. As a junior, he hit .406 with six triples, six home runs and drove in 29 runs. Mike posted a .512 on-base percentage, a .772 slugging percentage and was named All-Conference, All-Area, All-District and Team MVP. In his sophomore season, he hit .416 with five triples and posted a .488 on-base percentage and a .564 slugging percentage and was named All-Conference.
