The La Crosse Loggers got back to the .500 mark with a 5-0 win and a two-hitter from the pitching staff Thursday night against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

The Loggers got three runs in the second, thanks to a two-run RBI single from red hot center fielder Mike Nadratowski (Grand Valley State). Catcher Cody Foreman (College of the Albemarle) would later score in the inning on a wild pitch.  The Loggers would later tack on two runs in the top of the eighth to add to their lead.

This one was about the Loggers pitching staff though.  Starter Zack Walsh (Valparaiso) dazzled, pitching five strong innings and giving up only one hit to Rafters' center field Kirby McGuire in the bottom of the third.  Walsh's final line was five shutout innings, on one hit, walking four, and striking out five.  First basemen and reliever Marc Frazier (Nicholls State) came into the game to  finish up the final four innings for the Loggers.  Frazier, just like Walsh, only gave up one hit and struck out six, while not allowing a walk.

The Loggers will open up a big four game homestand Friday night at the Lumberyard when they battle the expansion Kenosha Kingfish.  First pitch is slated for 7:05.
