The La Crosse Loggers dropped their second straight game Wednesday night to the Willmar Stingers 3-2, and in the process lost control of first place in the Northwoods League South Divison.

The game was the last of a four-game roadtrip for the Loggers and they ended it going 2-2.  After winning their first two games in Wausau against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Loggers dropped the last two to the Stingers from Bill Taunton Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, the Loggers tied the game up on a sacrifice fly by center fielder Aaron Knapp (California) to score third basemen, Jerrod Bravo (Sacramento City CC).

The Stingers would end up taking the lead by two runs in bottom of the fourth when right fielder, Jack Ross (Pepperdine), doubled home left fielder, Casey Hughston (Alabama), and catcher, Brett Barbier (Cal Poly).

La Crosse would chip away by scoring a run in the top of the fifth when Kevin Zak (Grand Valley State) reached on an error and shortstop, Nash Knight (Dallas Baptist), scored.

Loggers relievers, Gordon Cardenas (Hawaii), and Ben Cejka (UW-La Crosse), pitched a combined 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball, but in the end it wasn't enough as the Lumbermen lost by one run.

The Lakeshore Chinooks defeated the Battle Creek Bombers 6-3 in Mequon, so the Chinooks take the lead by one game over La Crosse in the South Division.

With six games left in the first half the Loggers return home for a two-game series with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
