The La Crosse Loggers were swept at home to the Kenosha Kingfish Sunday evening in front 2,944 Copeland Crazies by a final score of 8-2. The loss was La Crosse's fourth in a row and now the Loggers drop below .500 in the second half of the Northwoods League season as they will head on the road for five games away from Copeland Park.
Kenosha got all but one of their runs in the top of the third inning. The seven-run third was highlighted by a Kyle Brooks (North Florida) double to score Zach Jones (Northwestern) and Steven Sensley (LSU-Eunice).
Loggers' starter, Scott Burke (UCLA), lasted only three innings allowing seven runs (six earned), on nine hits, while walking one, and striking out two.
Nash Knight (Dallas Baptist) led the way at the dish for the Loggers going 3-4, with a triple and scoring both of the Lumbermen's runs.
Pitchers and newly arrived Loggers, Jack Rogalla (Binghamton) and Mark Ecker (Texas A&M), tossed three scoreless innings in relief.
The Loggers will have Monday off before they head to Alexandria Tuesday to square off in a three-game series with the Blue Anchors. The Loggers will play a doubleheader Tuesday and the first game will be a makeup of the June 19th game that was rained out at Copeland Park, so La Crosse will act as the home team for the first game. Game one of the doubleheader will start at 6:00.
