WAUSAU, WI – The La Crosse Loggers fell to the Wisconsin Woodchucks 14-4 on their first visit to Athletic Park for 2015 in front of 1,711 fans on Saturday night.
Similar to the night before, the Lumbermen jumped out early by plating two runs in the first to take the early 2-0 lead. But Wisconsin would score in every inning from the second through the sixth to take a commanding lead off of Loggers starter Zach Smart (Sacramento City College) and never look back.
Jordan Zimmerman (Michigan State) continued his hot start by collecting two more hits and two RBI's. Alex Merritt (North Florida) also had two safeties.
The loss dropped the Loggers to 2-3 on the season. The same two teams will meet again on Sunday for a 5:05 p.m. start. The game can be heard live on the Logger Radio Network with air time set for 4:30 p.m. with John Pappadopolous.
