WAUSAU, WI – The Wisconsin Woodchucks clubbed five home runs en route to a 9-3 victory over the visitng La Crosse Loggers on Sunday evening to complete the two-game sweep at Athletic Park.

The Chucks scored one in the second, three in the third and four more in the fourth to blow the game open early off of Loggers starter Ben Ritchey (Sac City), jumping out to an early 8-0 lead and never looking back.

La Crosse would get on the board in the seventh via a solo home run off the bat of Jacob Boston (Mesa CC) and then add another in the eighth but it would be too little too late.

Nolan Gromacki (Missouri) did throw two solid innings in relief of Ritchey and Jordan Pearce (Nevada) struck out three of the six hitters he faced in the final two shutout innings.

The loss drops La Crosse to 2-4 on the young season and they will now return home to host the same Woochucks on Monday night at Copeland Park.  Gates open at 6 and the first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
