Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Loggers blanked the Growlers 5-0 en route to their fifth win in a row. Michael Echavia (Chabot) pitched 3.2 scoreless innings as the starter, only allowing one hit. Matt Naylor (North Florida) pitched the rest of the game. He picked up the win gave up no runs on only two hits.

Alex Byrd (Florida State) had thrown four scoreless to begin the game, but ran into trouble in the 5th. Ryan Kirby (San Diego) was plunked by the first pitch of the inning. Luis Trevino (Navarro) doubled him to third. Denz’l Chapman (San Diego State) brought both runners in on his double.

The Loggers added two more in the 6th when Will Savage (Columbia) and Alex Merritt (North Florida) walked and double to lead off the inning. Jordan Zimmerman collected his 35th and 36th RBIs of the season to extend the Logger lead to 4-0. Zimmerman also scored an insurance run in the 8th on a wild pitch.

Logger pitching was lights out tonight as they surrendered no runs on just 3 hits. They moved up to 12-7 in the second half with the win and are now 1 game behind Kenosha who swept a doubleheader against Wisconsin Rapids tonight.
