La Crosse, Wisc. – The Loggers overcame an early deficit to defeat the Green Bay Bullfrogs 12-5 tonight. Brandon Lawson (South Florida) pitched well despite a rough 1st inning.

Green Bay immediately got to Lawson from the start of the game. Logan Taylor (Louisville) singled and Robb Paller (Columbia) homered to right. Another run scored on a RBI double by Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State).

Alex Martinez (De Anza) started to unravel for the Bullfrogs. Two walks and a short single loaded the bases up for Ryan Kirby (San Diego) with just one out. After bringing the count full, Kirby walked in the Loggers 1st run. Another run scored when a 0-1 pitched nicked Alex Merritt (North Florida). After a fly out, Luis Trevino (Navarro JC) cleared the bases with a 3-run triple to right, giving La Crosse its first lead of the game 5-3.

The wheels fell off for Green Bay in the 6th and 7th as La Crosse took the game by storm. A walk, single, and another walk loaded the bases for Will Savage (Columbia) who was hit by a 3-2 pitch to score Kirby. Brock Lundquist singled to score two more runs to extend the Logger lead to 8-3.

Green Bay put up a run off Graham Spraker (Quincy) but it did not help much. Adam Rude (UConn) walked four straight Loggers with two outs. Brock Lundquist hit his 17th double of the season, bringing in three runs and tying the Logger single season record.

The Bullfrogs grabbed another one in the 8th but Jordan Jess (Minnesota) shut down the comeback to secure the 34th Logger victory of the season. The win puts the Loggers at 15-9 in the second half, still two games behind Kenosha. La Crosse is 34-24 overall and five games back for the number one seed in the playoffs.

Green Bay and La Crosse face off again tomorrow night at 5:05. Gates open at 4.
