The 2016 season began this past weekend for Division 1 programs, and a number of Loggers were in action these last few days. Here’s a list of a few names that were the top performers last weekend:

Sal Biasi of Penn State had a solid first career start, earning the win, pitching 6 innings of 1 run, 8 strikeout ball while giving up only 4 hits and 1 walk in a 5-4 win against Army on February 20.

Mark Nowaczewski of Nevada also made a strong start with 6 innings pitched to go with 3 strikeouts while only allowing 3 hits and 1 run in an 11-2 win against Nortwestern on February 20, with Nowaczewski getting credit for the win.

Griffin Conine of Duke made his first career collegiate hit a memorable one, a walkoff single in the 9th inning for the Blue Devils against California in a 5-4 win on February 21.

Kyle Planter of UC-Santa Barbara started out strong with 5 hits in 4 games along with 5 runs scored, 3 runs batted in, and hit a home run in the third game of the season against San Francisco on February 20.
