WILLMAR, MN – Mother nature only allowed the Loggers and Willmar Stingers to complete five innings of play on Wednesday night but it was just enough for the hosts to capture a 5-0 victory at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.

The Stingers wasted little time jumping on La Crosse starter Zach Kesterson (Duke) as they plated two runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back from there.

The Loggers tallied three hits on the night over the five innings including safeties from Kevin Collard (San Diego), Gavin Johns (Yavapai/UCLA) and Griffin Conine (Duke) before the game was called due to lightening and rain.

Kesterson (1-1) allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits over four innings of work.  He struck out three and walked one.

The Loggers and Stingers will conclude their two-game set tonight.  The game can be heard on The Logger Nation Station, Eagle 102.7 FM.  Airtime is 6:30 p.m. with the first pitch being thrown at 7:05 p.m.
