Willmar, Minn.- La Crosse gets back to its winning ways by defeated the Stingers 5-2 in Bill Tauton Stadium.
The Loggers looked to bounce back from two straight losses to start their five-game road trip.
David Jacob (Quincy) doubled to start off the second inning. Kevin Collard (San Diego) brought him in on a one out single to right to put the first run on the board.
Willmar tied it up in the 3rd when Jonathan Teaney (San Diego) hit Kole Cottam (Kentucky) with a 2-2 pitch with the bases loaded.
La Crosse took the lead right back in the 4th, again on a leadoff double, this time by Casey Danley (Illinois Central). He came into score on a David Jacob single. Later that inning, Luis Trevino (Houston) made the best of runners at second and third with two outs by scoring them all on a three-run home run, giving La Crosse a 5-1 lead.
Other than the lone run in the 3rd, Jonathon Teaney pitched well in his second start of the season. He went 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and striking out 5 more.
The Stingers fought back in the 7th with two outs. Kole Cottam scored from first on a double to left field by Travis Wacker (Oklahoma State). But one run was the all that was surrendered, making it 5-2 Loggers.
Graham Spraker (Quincy) finished the last two innings of the game for his first save of the season. La Crosse avoids its third consecutive loss to land at 4-6 for the season. Willmar falls to 5-5.
