Thunder Bay, Ont.- The Loggers defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats 4-3 in Port Arthur Park to win their second consecutive game.

After a scoreless Logger 1st inning, Bobby Honeyman (Stony Brook) reached second base to lead off the inning on an error by La Crosse left fielder Kevin Collard (San Diego). He came into score two batters later on groundout by Gui Gingras (St. John’s).

The Border Cats added another run in the 5th on a single by Jordan Gillerman (St. John’s).

The Loggers came back in a hurry in the 6th. Casey Danley (Illinois Central) was hit by a pitch with one out. A single and a fielder’s choice put runners on the corners for Lorenzo Hampton Jr. (California). He singled to score Danley to put La Crosse on the board for the first time on the night. Kevin Collard did not let his Lumbermen stay behind for two much longer. With two runners on, he took a 0-1 pitch over the wall at Port Arther Stadium to put La Crosse up 4-2.

Mark Nowaczewski (Nevada) went 7 strong innings for the Loggers, he gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits with two strikeouts. He picked up his first win of the season in his first start of the season.

Jordan Thompson (Ridgewater College) nearly match him with 6.2 innings of work, giving up four runs on six hits and a strikeout of his own. He took his second loss in his last two games.

Thunder Bay brought the Loggers lead within one, but Andrew Perez (South Florida) struck three batters out in the final two innings to secure the win, and his first save of the season.
