Duluth, Minn. – La Crosse drops back-to-back games, this time 6-3 to the Duluth Huskies
After La Crosse left two runners on base in their first frame, the Huskies jumped on the board with four runs in the 1st inning. The Huskies cracked out six hits, including three to start the game to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Carter Hanford (Jeff College) brought in two more runs a one out double in the 4th inning, extending the Duluth lead to six.
La Crosse responded in the very next inning. Justin Wylie (San Diego State) and Gavin Johns (UCLA) walked with one out. Mason McCoy (Iowa) scored both of them with a double, putting the Loggers on the scoreboard. Griffin Conine (Duke) followed him with a single to scored McCoy, bringing the Loggers within 3 runs.
Quentin Longrie (USC) pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings to secure the win for Duluth.
Ryan Tapini (Creighton) earned the win (3-2) for the Huskies. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. We walked 2 batters and struck out 4 batters.
Mark Nowaczewski (Nevada) took the loss (3-2) for La Crosse. He pitched 3.1 inning, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits. He walked one batter.
La Crosse falls to 2-4 on the 1st half and 19-23 overall. Duluth win its 2nd game of the 2nd half (2-5) and moves to 20-23 overall. La Crosse stays in town for one more game, again at 6:35 PM.
