Duluth, Minn. – La Crosse scores the last three runs of the game to win 4-2 after four rain delays totaling 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Both teams exchanged runs in the 1st inning. Justin Wylie (San Diego State) homered with one out to give the Loggers an early 1-0 lead. Daniel Amaral (UCLA) led off with a walk. He scored in the next at-bat from 1st base on a double by Casey Moses (Texas Wesleyan).

Loggers starting pitcher Andrew Perez (South Florida) was taken out during the first batter of the 3rd inning. Jared Liebelt (Waubonese CC) relieved him to pitch 3 scoreless innings.

Duluth broke the scoreless streak in the 7th inning on bases loaded fielder’s choice, scoring Casey Moses.

La Crosse scored the final 3 runs of the game, starting in the 8th. Lorenzo Hampton Jr. (California) doubled to lead off the inning and tied the score with two outs on a single by Cullen Large (William & Mary).

Kyle Plantier (UC-Santa Barbara) and Garrett Zech (South Florida) singled back-to-back with one out in the 9th. With both in scoring positions and two outs, Lorenzo Hampton Jr. doubled, scoring both runs. Dave Smith (Long Beach State) cleaned up shop in the bottom of the 9th for the save.  

La Crosse moves up to 3-4 in the 2nd half and 20-23 overall. The Loggers are trailing the Eau Claire Express by 2 games in the 2nd half. Duluth falls to 2-6 in the 2nd half and 20-24 overall.

La Crosse comes back home for a home/away series against the Express. Game time tomorrow night at Copeland Park is 7:05. Gates open at 6 pm.
